Strength Gains

"The Vasa Trainer gives you strength training as well as stretching and I think that’s extremely crucial, especially when you swim long course meters. It’s very important to have long, lean muscles and the Vasa Trainer really allows you to do that." - Lenny Krayzelburg, 2000 Olympic Gold Medalist, 3-Time World Record Holder

"In Aug. of this year I finished the Catalina Classic Paddleboard Race from Catalina Island to Manhattan Beach in L.A. It is a 32 mile open ocean race. Although I am not a great swimmer or paddler, I was able to finish due to my paddleboard training and my consistent weekly workouts on my Vasa. I mostly trained for power on the Vasa, one day using one arm stroke and one other day using a two arm stroke. On the one arm day I would start with 6 reps times 3 sets, build up to 10-12 reps, then increase resistance. It is very similar to weight training and plyometric training for power. On the two arm day, I would work up to 3 minutes straight, increase to 6 minutes, then increase resistance. " - Dr. Jerry Moylan

"I purchased your Vasa Trainer earlier this year for my two kids ages 8 and 9. They have been swimming competitively for three years. My son could just not get the butterfly stroke. Well, I’m happy to say he has it thanks to the Vasa Trainer. He uses the Vasa Trainer to do pull ups and to work on his butterfly stroke. He still has a long way to go but the Vasa Trainer has given him the physical strength to propel himself through the water. Both he and my daughter use the Vasa Trainer on non-swim days. As a result they have broad shoulders and shapely arms… P.S. I get the greatest ab work outs I’ve ever gotten on the Vasa!" - Donald Halbohn, North Massapequa, NY

" We use the Vasa Trainer for dry land, 3 times a week, on our off days of weights. We go 2 minutes for 6 rounds with the pulley system. It's a lot more stroke specific than weights. The motion is what you need far more than being in the weight room and lifting weights. It can do a lot for you." - Brad Bridgewater, Olympic champion swimmer

"I have been using my Vasa Sport Trainer since Nov. 29th, 1995. I have been surfing for over 30 years. Surfing in the Pacific Northwest requires you to be in top shape and an excellent paddler. When our family moved inland to Portland, OR, I was not able to put in the amount of time in the water required to stay at maximum ability. My Vasa has filled the gap. I no longer suffer from noodle arms. In fact, I'll be 50 years young this year and I am paddling as well if not stronger than I was at 40 years. I am stronger and I no longer question my ability. If the surf is up, I can get paddle out, no doubt about it. If you surf and your over 40, Vasa is the magic bullet you've been looking for."- Darrin Boehmer, Surfer, Stoked at 50.

Improving Endurance

"Just a quick note on the overwhelming benefits of the VASA Trainer. I have been an avid surfer for 30 years. Now with the demands of family and career I am not able to spend as much time in the water as I would like. Paddle power becomes a major factor when go outs become less frequent. With this in mind I spoke with a close friend of mine, Sam George, and he strongly suggested the VASA.
I now work out on my VASA close to everyday. Recently, Sam and I and a couple other friends got together for a surf weekend. We met at a remote point break and the surf was insane. It was clear, hot and perfect. The surf was six to eight feet and extremely demanding. Day one we surfed for four hours, day two, seven hours, day three, seven hours. We hit it about as hard as you can. We lived it at high tone. There is no way I could have kept that pace without my constant VASA training. Thanks for helping me live a weekend that we will all talk about for years to come." - John McMahon, Surfer from Orinda, CA

"The Vasa Trainer really seems to work for me. Each year I go to Florida in April to surf. Since I have a desk job and haven’t surfed in the previous five or six months, sustained paddling is difficult — I find myself sore at night. This past April was different. Not only was I able to paddle for long, sustained periods, I was able to sprint whenever necessary. Best of all, I wasn’t sore in the evenings - this, despite the fact that the paddle outs were challenging due to blown-out, raging storm surf. I’m a believer in this machine! Thanks again for your help." - Jack Peduzzi, Surfer from Worcester, VT

"Your product has made such a difference in my swimming career. I use your product every other day before our swim practices to build upper body strength. I also use the Vasa Trainer to build my calf muscles which helps to increase my kicking endurance. Your product is what I consider to be one of the best strength enhancers made for the swimming community and has helped me and many of my teammates to reach or goals. I want you to know that my support is totally behind your product." - M.C., 17 year old club/high school swimmer

"I really love my Vasa Trainer. I bought it specifically for surfing and also for swimming. Two weekends ago, I surfed for the first time in my full wetsuit. In case you haven't tried paddling in a full 4/3 wetsuit, it's tough! I would always get "spaghetti arms" after about a half hour to an hour into paddling. After that I wouldn't have the strength to paddle to catch any more waves and have to come in. The last time I was out, I surfed for over two and a half hours and I felt great! The only reason I came in was because my friends got tired. Ha-ha-ha, how funny! Maybe they should get a Vasa Trainer!” - Eugene Wang, San Diego, CA

"I used the Vasa Trainer for a month before surfing for 1 week in Mexico. After using your product, I was able to surf for 4 hours the first day back. Not bad for someone who lives in the mountains, 1000 miles away from the ocean. Thanks!" - Scott Shepard

Swim Specific Training

"I really like to use the Vasa Trainer for working on my freestyle tempo with one arm at a time, as well as with both arms. I like to work on high elbows, which is very important to catch the pool... The Vasa Trainer gives you both flexibility and strength in your muscles. It is very close to what you are doing in the pool, it's almost the same thing... It is very important to have flexibility in your muscles, to have long, lean muscles, especially for long course. Vasa really helps you develop that flexibility." - Lenny Krayzelburg, 2000 Olympic Gold Medalist, 3-Time World Record Holder

"In training, we use the Vasa Trainers three times a week as part of our dry land program. We focus on using proper stroke technique, such as high elbows and finishing in the back half of the stroke. I think that the Vasa Trainer helps you be more aware of doing proper stroke technique in the pool.
The Vasa Trainer benefits age group swimmers because it emphasizes using proper technique. It definitely will help with technique in the pool and it will create upper body strength." - Karen Campbell, Pan-Pacific champion swimmer, Los Angeles, CA

"At this meet our team's senior freestyle relay was short a girl so they asked Karina to swim the 3rd leg of the relay. The girls knew Karina would do well and not embarrass them. Our team, Americus BlueTide, was seeded 3rd for the relay. We came in first! And all the other girls on the bigger teams ate crow. They could not believe that little girl was so powerful, yea Vasatrainer!!" - K.M.

"The Vasa Trainer is the greatest! It’s helped me be very swim-specific in my training, especially since I cannot get to the pool every day. I don’t need to train in the pool as often or as long because it really works the specific muscle groups. I think the Vasa Trainer swim bench is especially good for someone who doesn’t have the time to go to the pool 5 days a week or doesn’t have 8 hours a day to train. With the Vasa Trainer you can really get to work, you can work on your technique, and be first out of the water!" - Colleen Cannon, Former World Champion Triathlete, founder of Women’s Quest Fitness Camps, Nederland, CO

"I purchased a Vasa Trainer for my daughter, Erin, in November. ...At the start of the season, she was wanted to hit a Junior National time in the 50 freestyle. She was a second away, a huge drop for the 50 free in one season. Thanks to the Vasa Trainer, I am happy to report Erin won her fifth Iowa championship (easily). We both feel the strength and endurance she developed from using the Vasa Trainer was the element that helped her regain her edge on the competition and make her 24.78 time in the 50 free (from 25.85). We wish to thank you and certainly will pass on the word about the amazing benefits that the trainer has." - Stephen Petty, Davenport, IA

"Well, I thanked you last year when I first got back into competitive swimming because I had just posted 4 top 20 National Times after being out of swimming for 20 years. That was on 6 months of training and religious Vasa Trainer workouts. A year later at that same meet (Orlando SCM Fall Invitational), I won 6 out of 6 events, 3 overall wins, and broke 3 Florida State Masters records in the process. The Vasa Swim Trainer is the cornerstone of my dry land training. I can't believe everyone doesn't own one of these, but I'm glad they don't. THANK YOU, and once again, GREAT MACHINE!!!" - Jerry Dawson, Oakland, CA.

"As a blind marathon swimmer, I sometimes find it necessary to break the freestyle stroke down into separate segments as do most swimmers. We all know that learning general stroke motions and mechanics is sometimes difficult in the water and better accomplished on land. For this purpose, I use the Vasa Trainer three or more times per week. Having learned to swim late in life, I move slowly but consistently. My slow distance work has depleted training time for strength training. Thus, I have begun to use the pulley strength training cable attachment for the machine. I am a very tense swimmer with low flexibility. The newly added cable allows me to pursue specific tension reducing exercises to loosen muscular tightness, thus in turn adding more length to the aquatic stroke. The Vasa Trainer has been a boon and a blessing in building strength for marathon swimming. Both in June of 1996 and 1997, I have been granted the privilege of swimming the Pfizer 12.5 mile journey around the island of Key West, Florida. I hope to pursue this journey again on June 6 in preparation for a 15-mile trek across Toroneos Gulf, Greece in July, 1998. How does one describe a marathon swim? It is a rhythmic journey of glide, life and breath, a quest for exploration, unhindered by walls and lane ropes. A marathon is a challenge that broadness one's horizons. Besides building strength, muscular length, and general endurance, the Vasa Swim Trainer offers the "feel" of the proper motions of the freestyle stroke. Its weight training capacity provides the "feel" of the weight, both positive and negative, through both contraction and stretch. I like the joy of the glorious "feeling of glide" as the seat carriage rides evenly and smoothly back and forth. I would like to thank Vasa Inc. for building a flexible machine for improving a swimmer's form and flexibility." - Sharon Luka, Selina, KS

Improving Swimming Technique

"I’ve been using the Vasa Trainers here at the University of Southern California since 1992. I’m very happy and satisfied with the results that it’s given us... We use the Vasa Trainers on a regular basis, 3 times per week. We feel that it is very specific to swimming, especially with the catch and the finish of the stroke. What we like about it is that you can gradually increase the resistance and gradually increase the angle so the swimmer’s power and strength increases throughout the season. We have a well-planned out program of repetitions and increases in resistance as the season goes on... We use the Vasa Trainer to focus on good, specific swimming technique. You can really practice a great high elbow catch, which is essential in all strokes, most specifically for freestyle and butterfly." - Mark Schubert, Head Coach, University of Southern California, U.S. Olympic Coach

"While I typically do not pass on messages with any commercial content, I have known Rob Sleamaker and his Vasa Trainer for close to 20 years and have great faith both in Rob and in his product. In the past two weeks, I have been doing more than the usual amount of study on biomechanics of freestyle, and the ONLY common thread I can see over the past 50 years of world champion/Olympic Champion and World Record holding freestylers, is the early and high elbow catch position with the fingers down and the forearm thus positioned to apply pressure straight back on the water. By my calculations, fully 70% of freestylers above have this characteristic in common in their underwater photos and videos, and the other 30% have it is some substantial degree. This fact, in my mind, reinforces the notion that the Vasa Trainer is useful in both training and teaching. Nothing that I know of can teach this position as well as the Vasa Trainer. Feel free to disagree, and if so, please excuse my enthusiasm and passing on this commercial message, but this is one rare case that I believe has great merit based on what I have seen and reviewed. Best Regards to all and best wishes for fast swimming this spring!" - John Leonard, Executive Director, American Swim Coaches Association

"Vasa Trainers have been the heart and soul of the dryland training program at Washington and Jefferson College. The machines have played a significant part in the development of stroke mechanics and upper body strength in our swimmers. Obviously, the Presidents are true believers in the Vasa Trainers, with 10 of them on deck... We are truly grateful for this machine and its magnificent benefits!" - Michael H. Orstein, Head Coach, Washington and Jefferson College Swimming

"We now have six Vasa Trainers, and they play a multifaceted role in our training program. We are able to incorporate Vasa training into every aspect of our program - from sprint and power training to endurance training to improving swimming technique. I feel that Vasa Trainer work helps the swimmers with their catch, high elbow position, and finish of their stroke...especially for freestyle, butterfuly and backstroke. Our 50, 100 and 200 yard swimmers particularly like Vasa Trainer work. We are able to design sets on the Vasa Trainer just as we do for the pool that allow us to achieve specificity in our training program." - John Patnott, Hope College Men's and Women's Swimming Coach, 3-Time NCAA Division III Coach of the Year

"We are convinced that the Vasa Trainer is a perfect tool to use for technique and strength improvements in swimming." - Bill Wadley, Men’s Swimming Coach, Ohio State University

"I really like the Vasa Trainer because it really helps me work on stroke mechanics, especially at the front of my stroke. My problem is dropping my elbows in the front part of my stroke and the Vasa Trainer has really helped me get the high elbow catch at the front of my stroke, which has really helped my Freestyle a lot. It’s made a huge difference." - Indira Allick, former U.S. National team swimmer

"With the double arm Butterfly stroke on the Vasa Trainer, you really emulate what you do with Butterfly in the water under your body and it really works the same muscles you use while swimming in the water." - Kevin Northup, former U.S. National team swimmer

Why the Vasa Trainer is better than Total Gym®

"The Vasa Trainer is much more cost effective and not only does everything that the Total Gym does, it has even more function. The dual resistance capability of the Vasa enables the user to do plyometric and ballistic training which are more sport specific. I've found it easier to do off-the-machine exercises, such as one-arm cable crossovers, lateral raises, front raises, triceps kickbacks, side leg raises, etc., all with full range of motion and all without the necessity of using the body as resistance. Additionally, the flexible cables with their natural progressive resistance better mirrors the strength curve than the Total Gym.

Without bodyweight, the Total Gym has no resistance, unless you attach the free-weight bar, which is only available on the premium models.

The greatest advantage the VasaTrainer has over the Total Gym is the ability to perform all of the swimming strokes out of the water. Everybody can enjoy many of the benefits of swimming year-round without leaving their home. It's impossible to perform, what many people consider the most perfect exercise, on a Total Gym. This also makes the VasaTrainer a cardiovascular exercise machine as well as an ample total body strength and sport specific training device.

"The fact that Vasa uses a single rail system, rather than the Total Gym dual rail system, more muscles are recruited to help in stabilization. This is, not only important in sports training, but vitally important in rehabilitation and injury prevention as well. In our real lives we don't move in a single plane of motion, why shouldn't your exercise machine mimic a more real world feel.

"The commercial grade Total Gym is an excellent piece of exercise equipment, however the lower cost units are extremely poor quality. The units sold on their infomercials are about $1,000 and you can spend over $3,000 for their premium commercial units with all the accessories.

"When you think about all of the various aspects of fitness, one has to be impressed with the versatility of the Vasa. There are 6 components to a complete fitness program: cardiovascular, strength, power, flexibility, proprioception and balance. Only the VasaTrainer can provide all of those components in a single exercise machine." - Dr. Glenn Gero, Naturopathic Doctor and Exercise Therapist, Clifton, N.J.

"I wanted to express my sincere thanks and appreciation for your time and for showing me the Vasa Trainer and Ergometer in Oak Brook, this past weekend. Thank you also for the kind words and autograph in my book. Serious Training was the first book I used to prepare for my early triathlons and I continue to use it to this day.

"I am confident that the Vasa Trainer will be the perfect training tool for my patients, clients and for my own training needs. I was impressed with how smooth and natural if felt when replicating the swim strokes and functional movements. The quality and craftsmanship of the Vasa exceeded my expectations.

"Attached to this e-mail is the list of ‘Pros and Cons’ that I had put together prior to meeting with you. It compares the Total Gym 26000 with the Vasa Trainer Clinical version. Total Gym recently came out with the 26000, which replaces the long standing 24000, but they are essentially the same device with slight design modifications to the accessories.

"I wasn't sure where to put this information in the Pros/Cons list, but I wanted to make note of it. The Total Gym 26000 base price is $1995, plus S&H. With accessory packages the price can increase to over $3,300 plus S&H. The Vasa PT Clinical model base price is $999, plus S&H. With all possible accessories the price increases to just under $1,300, plus S&H. So from that assessment, a person can have two complete Vasa PT Clinical models with all of the possible accessories for the price of one complete Total Gym 26000 package. On the Vasa you can complete all of the same functional and rehab exercises as the Total Gym, plus swim strokes and more.

"As a former certified USA Triathlon coach, and board member to the Duathlon Commission, the Vasa Trainer was rarely spoken of, which is surprising since USA Swimming uses it and that it is recommended by professional triathletes, Dave Scott and Gordo Byrns." - Joseph S. Neczek, MS, RKT, CSCS, Registered Kinesiotherapist, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist

"Please let me tell you that I have made the right choice in selecting the VASA Trainer. I owned a Total Gym previously and was going to buy the new model, but all the information on your web page and the excellent customer service made me make the right decision.

In deciding which model to purchase, both space and the ability to do swimming exercises were very important. Unlike Total Gym, Vasa provided information & videos on exercises at no charge. Material is also much better on the Vasa

Thank you and keep up the good work. - Ignacio A. Vela Trejo, Veracruz , Mexico

After seeing an infomercial for the Total Gym, Steve Myrland remarked, “You can do all that stuff on a Vasa Trainer." – and more!

As the two machines appear to be very similar in their concept, Steve could quickly tell you that the Vasa Trainer provides a much broader range of resistance options. This makes it a better choice for his diverse needs as a conditioning & performance coach for competitive athletes at all levels.

“The Vasa Trainer’s pulley and strap-systems combine well with easy elevation control to let you really fine-tune the resistance you are working against. I can work across the entire range of muscular and physiological responses from explosive power, to strength and endurance. Versatility is essential to anyone who must work in a team or group setting, so the Vasa Trainer fits that requirement nicely.

"I've always thought the Vasa Trainer allowed me be an intuitive coach. I could easily match a specific sport and an individual athlete (all with unique training needs) to a progression of movements on the Vasa Trainer – and not just the exercises I've seen used for swimmers. I could create specialized workouts for hockey, soccer, tennis, and baseball players as well as provide effective training for rowers, bikers, swimmers, skiers and runners.

"The Vasa Trainer works for me - I've never had the need to look at the Total Gym.” -Steve Myrland, Athletic Performance Coach, Middleton, WI - www.traintoplay.com

Versatility of the Vasa Trainer

"As a Personal Trainer, I want to give my clients the best service I can. Time is important to me and to the client. The Vasa Trainer has given me the opportunity to bring my Personal Training business to a whole new level. The versatility training options are endless. The increase in muscular strength and endurance in my clients has been one of the high points of using the Vasa Trainer on a regular basis. If you are a personal trainer and you have limited space, or if you are looking for a versatile piece of equipment to add to your personal training program, the Vasa Trainer is a must." - Carol Bennet, Operations Manager, Fitness Options Personal Training Studio

"For dryland swim training to perfect my stroke, increase my strength, and build my endurance, I use the Vasa Trainer. Its unique design and smooth action provides exactly the right swim-specific training I need in less training time.

I've tried all types of machines and devices, including others claiming to duplicate swimming. Nothing even comes close to the Vasa Trainer's effectiveness and value. The Vasa Trainer is absolutely essential for all triathletes and swimmers who want to swim faster. It is the best swim bench available." - Dave Scott, Triathon legend & 6-time winner of the Hawaii IronMan

"We use the Vasa Trainer in our University, club and camp programs. The Vasa is a versatile training aid which can produce significant strength and strength / endurance gains in the prime upper body muscle groups. We also use it for leg strength with wall exercises. The Vasa Trainer is an integral part of our dryland program." - Jim Richardson, Head Women's Coach, University of Michigan, Big Ten Coach of the Year & NCAA Coach of the Year

"I’ve used the Vasa Trainer swim bench for several years and it has real versatility. Not only has it allowed me to focus on my stroke mechanics out of water, it allows me to do a variety of swim simulated workouts. I used the Vasa Trainer a lot in the early part of the season and I came into the season with a lot more basic swim strength... with the Vasa Trainer you can be real specific with your training without having to be in the water. So for someone who doesn’t have the time or pool access, it’s an excellent piece of equipment. I have found that it’s versatility makes it very fun to use. The Vasa Trainer has helped me to swim better." - Ray Browning, former pro triathlete, Winner of 7 IronMan Triathlons

"We bought the Vasa primarily for our daughter, who is on the high school swim team... She loves swimming, but can’t seem to improve her times. She’s been doing workouts on the Vasa, but she has to make her younger sister, a gymnast, get off it first. Since my husband has started working in Manhattan, his commute has increased from 1/2 hour to almost 2. He hasn’t been able to find much time to get to the gym. Now he comes home, gets on the Vasa, and can feel like he has gotten a workout. I find it more enjoyable to work on than any weight machine. Once again, I just wanted to let you know how happy we are with the Vasa." - Melissa Syage, Bridgewater, NJ

"We have been the owners of the Vasa Trainer for close to 4 months now. Before buying the Vasa Trainer (swim bench), my daughter Erin’s times were at a complete standstill, she was unhappy with her swimming and was even contemplating quitting for a while. When we received it, she and another friend worked 3 days a week on it and even did some off day training. This past weekend at a meet, her freestlye time dropped from :32.21 to :31.01 and her breast stroke went from :42.71 to :40.05. She was extremely pleased. She has been a time swimmer for a few years and we did not want her to quit swimming. Since we bought our Vasa Trainer, our swim club purchased two and three other individuals each bought one for home use. She has started an epidemic! Thank you so much for this machine." - Sue Mancle, Rhinelander, WI

"I purchased your Vasa Trainer earlier this year for my two kids, ages 8 and 9. They have been swimming competitively for three years. My son could just not get the butterfly stroke. Well, I'm happy to say he has it thanks to the Vasa. He uses the Vasa Trainer to do pull-ups and to work on his butterfly stroke. As a result, they have broad shoulders and shapely arms. P.S. I get the greatest ab work outs I've ever gotten on the Vasa!" - Donald Halbohn, N.Massapequa, NY

"We have discovered yet another way to use our Vasa Trainer. My ten year old daughter helped me to figure out how to turn it into a rowing machine. I sit on a physioball, place my feet against a plastic milk crate that abuts the front stanchion and take a hold of the pulley handles in my hands. My daughter delightedly rides on the bench carraige, belly down, while I "row" her by straightening and bending my knees and elbows. This works my arms, legs and abs while getting my heart pumping too. Best of all, my daughter reminds me to do my work-outs!" - Jane Costello, Amherst, MA

Time Saving Home Gym

"My enthusiasm for the Vasa Trainer keeps growing even after using it for well over two years. It has become my primary (and favorite) exercise machine. As you know I have 74 other pieces of equipment in my home, but the Vasa Trainer has so much utility that it has become the core of my training program. I have discovered so many applications that cover every facet of the fitness equation. I have developed a routine of stretching exercises that keep my shoulders and back structurally sound. Because of the broad range of positions that are only possible on the Vasa Trainer, I can develop the various tie-in muscles that other machines cannot duplicate. The unique design enables me to go from one exercise to another virtually without any setup. This makes my workout time very efficient and keeps the heart rate up throughout the workout. I've also developed a quad workout that is very intense using the Vasa Trainer as a plyometric device and supersetting it with a leg extension, a leg press or a step movement. I've also experimented with it as a rehab tool. Not only do I feel that it keeps my joints healthy, but I honestly believe that the Vasa Trainer can be used effectively for rotator cuff, back and cervical injuries." - Dr. Glenn Gero, Naturopathic Doctor and Exercise Therapist, Clifton, N.J., www.holisticnaturopath.com

"I just did my first 30 minute xc-ski prep and overall strength session on the Vasa Trainer I bought from you. Performing exercises intensely and in rapid succession... virtually no rest periods... in 1/2 hour my upper body was as pumped and taxed as spending 1 hour lifting weights at the gym! Wow the Vasa trainer is dynamite in the xc-ski racers training life!

"You guys are right..in the category of "roller-board - incline training devices," the Vasa Trainer is the absolute Rolls Royce. I would recommend it to anybody in a second. The best. The creme de la creme in training equipment." - Tommy Aunan, National Class Master XC ski racer, National and World Class Master Racewalker, Bellevue, WA

"The Vasa Trainer gives me the ability to come into work in the mornings and in about a 20 minute workout, I can have a full, complete strengthening program and have this completed before the patients come in and it starts out my day. So, it’s very useful for me in triathlon training and then it carries over specifically with swimming, and the multiple exercises for the hips, the abdominals and the legs have improved my cycling and running, too." - Jeanine Gunn, triathlete and physical therapist, Downey, CA

"My war story days are far gone as a former member of the 1976 U.S. Olympic Hockey Team and National Hockey League player. I now rely on my VASA SWIM TRAINER to complement my busy business schedule with quick and enjoyable daily workouts. It takes my mind off my work and brings me back to the days when athletics were paramount in my life. I love my VASA SWIM TRAINER just for the sheer relaxation it provides." - Danny Bolduc, 1976 U.S. Olympic Hockey Team and former NHL Player

"Dear Vasa people...I've been meaning to let u know that I love my Vasa Trainer. I only started using it in January because I was on vacation in December. Consequently I surfed my buns off. In January, I had to go back to work but I started using my machine as regularly as I can given my single parent status and work schedule. I have found that not only am I getting stronger but I am definitely feeling way more toned up when I do get to surf. I'm not huffing and puffing just from paddling out but I feel just as strong when I go as when I go out. Thanks for putting me back in the water for real." - J.P.

"This year was very different because I was paddling like a person who surfed regularly all winter and hadn’t spent the last year recovering from the chemotherapy and radiation used to cure Hodgkin’s disease. I can’t tell you how comforting it is to know that I will never again be facing long hours in a cold pool while I try to keep my paddling muscles intact. I’ll be able to stay in shape when job commitments or the lack of surf keep me out of the water. In short, the Vasa Trainer is a gift from Heaven for this 46 year old surfer boy." - Robert Eckstein, Surfer from Boston, MA

Weight Loss

"I had been working out with a friend on their exercise equipment including a Vasa Trainer. I was very impressed. I decided to purchase my own. I like the convenience of having my own. I feel like I am making great improvement with my strength, cardiovascular and weight. No more to say other than I LOVE IT!!!" - Connie Roach

"Hey Vasa, Have had my Vasa Trainer for 14 months. Use it at least 3 times a week. I lost 50 lbs in the first 3 months and have kept it off and am in much better shape for surfing than I was 10 years ago. Mega Kudos!" - D.H -Jackson Hole, WY

Click here to read an interview with Terry Handran who trained for his first Ironman Triathlon using his Vasa Trainer & Vasa Ergometer, a treadmill and a stationary bike. Remarkably, he lost 100 pounds along the way!

Quality Product & Excellent Value

"Great piece of equipment. Just like I thought it would be...well built, fabulous workout!!" - Joe Fisher, Exeter, NH

"I would like to share with you an experience I had this summer which exemplified how well built your stainless steel Vasa Trainer is. While transporting two new Vasa Trainer swim benches to our summer facility in a pickup truck, we lost one of the swim benches off the back of the truck while rounding a corner at approximately 20-25 miles per hour. The Vasa Trainer was launched 5 feet into the air before hitting the ground. To my surprise, other than some chipped paint, the Vasa Swim bench is still performing as well as our other six. With the limited time we have to train age group and high school kids, the Vasa Swim bench is the only instructional workout tool we use (other than the pool) for drills and yardage. The research and development you have invested in your equipment provides coaches with a safe and stroke-specific training device. Keep up the good work!" - Kenneth Berg, Head Swim Coach, Fitch High School, Groton, CT

"Dollar for dollar, it's definitely the best machine made. I was a precision machinist by trade and I know what good workmanship is when I see it." – Dick Shoulberg, Germantown Academy

"I really like the ease with which the Trainer comes down and goes together. Just tighten a few bolts or loosen the same bolts and the Trainer is easily set up for practice or easily put away. We store the Trainer in a storage closet just off the pool. We keep it in there during
the season and have no problem with moisture from the pool affecting it in any manner. Because it is in a "pool" storage closet there are people on the PE staff in and out in the course of the day getting swimming equipment, the TV and VCR, and other aquatic supplies stored in the closet. The Trainer stand up next to the wall and is out of the way. The Trainer is easy to move, with just one person and goes easily in and out of the narrow space we have to store it in." - Skip Farkas, Swim Coach, Minuteman Regional High School

"The Vasa Trainer is very well put together. The smoothness of the seat on the monorail is fantastic and it is clear this is a high quality product." - M.A., Newport Beach, CA

"At the USOC Aquatics Center in Colorado Springs, we use your machines to service the best aquatic athletes in the world... Vasa trainers are an integral part of strength training for the aquatic athletes and cross trainers in our facility. Thank you again for your time and professional courtesy."
- William I. Shalley, USOC Aquatics Center, Colorado Springs, CO
