Save Time and Money by Owning a Vasa Ergometer
If you are running low on training time and find it hard to get to the pool, you are not alone. Almost every athlete we speak to is looking for ways to be more efficient with their time. We asked Vasa Ergometer owners to compare the time they needed to workout at the pool with workouts on Ergometer. They are saving HOURS a week and still get effective swim workouts. For those athletes that have given up going to the pool, they are quickly paying for their purchase by not having the pool expenses. Here are some real life examples of how athletes are saving time and money by training with Vasa:
What does it take to stay at the top of your sport? Lisbeth and Todd Kenyon are like many of the triathletes we talk to in that they have rigorous training schedules that are constantly challenged by demanding jobs and family obligations. "Todd and I have been using the Vasa Ergometer for a year now and we use it as both a supplement and substitute for the pool as well as for general conditioning. It has been a huge time saver for us as we both work and have 3 kids with their different activities to add to the mix. We have gotten stronger and have the confidence that even if we skip the pool we are still able to get a functional swim."- Lisbeth Kenyon, elite age group triathlete Exactly HOW MUCH TIME has the Vasa Ergometer saved the Kenyon's? Let's take a look: Time needed to TRAIN AT THE POOL (per workout)
Time needed to TRAIN ON THE VASA ERGOMETER (per workout)
TOTAL TIME SAVED: 95 minutes per workout Saving Time & Money: Depending on the season, Lisbeth reported that they typically substitute (or replace) a pool workout 1-2 times per week on the Ergometer. This equates to SAVING 1.5 hours to 3.2 hours per week. How would you use the extra time? Obviously, the more days you substitute an Erg for the pool, the more time you will save. Some owners even choose to completely give up their pool membership which saves them time and money (membership fees, cost of fuel to drive to & from the pool, etc.). The additional benefit of guaranteed performance improvement - that is just a BONUS!
![]() Swimmer Randy Rogers Randy supplements his pool workout with the Vasa Ergometer. He estimates he saves 70 minutes per workout if he trains at home versus at the pool. "I have seen a significant increase in swim specific strength, especially with butterfly. If I am unable to make it to the pool, or just need a break from it, the Vasa Ergonometer is a great compliment to my training. I can get a similar workout in half the time by using the Vasa". - Master Swimmer Randy Rogers Click here to read Randy's story about how he used the Ergometer to rehab from a shoulder injury and dropped his best time by 5 minutes! ![]() Save Money by eliminating travel and/or membership fees Joe Neczek is now saving both time and money by having the convenience of getting in his swim workouts at home. Before owning the Vasa Ergometer, he would have a 10 mile commute to the pool which took about 40 minutes in traffic. "This season, all of my swimming was completed on the Vasa Ergometer versus training in the pool with a Masters Swim Club (which is what I had done prior). I first learned to swim when I was an adult and over the past 11 years, my swim times have been essentially the same with 1-2 minute differences in my triathlon swim splits. The Vasa Ergometer is far more convenient to get in my swim workouts. By training more consistently, I have noticed improvements in my swim times and overall triathlon performance. I am happy to report that my swim time was 5-minutes faster this year when I compare it to my first triathlon, for the same distance." "Training with the Vasa Ergometer has not only made me a stronger and faster triathlete, it has saved me time and money for driving to and from the pool three to four times per week. Most importantly it has allowed me to do what I enjoy most, and that is being with my family." - Joe Neczek, age group triathlete ![]() Continues to participate in the sport he loves by training at home ![]() Scott had difficulties getting to the pool during "open" hours so he decided to purchase a Vasa Ergometer. He justified his purchase by giving up his pool membership, which has been paying off ever since. "Given my 2-2.5 hrs of commuting per day, the Vasa has kept me in the sport of Triathlon. The ability to walk to the basement and obtain a quality workout is a tremendous asset. The initial cost of the Vasa was balanced by giving up an annual pool membership. My periodic pool expenses are peanuts compared to the annual fee." - Scott Johnson, age group triathlete click here to read Scott's complete story on training with the Ergometer
