We call it 'Lane 7' at Germantown. We have three Ergometers. The quality of workmanship in this product is unbelievable. Each one is used about 18 hours a week, and I have had 'zero' down time. I do specific sets for different age groups. Sprints are different from middle distance, back and breast, and distance is certainly very different. You can measure very accurately with this new product. A few years ago with the original Vasa, I used the Polar Heart Rate Monitors going up the slide as fast as you could and down as slowly as you could for 16 continuous minutes. I averaged heart rates over 190. The Vasa products have enhanced all the swimmers at Germantown Academy as we use them for working on stroke technique, conditioning, coordination and fitness. The machines are also great for sick or injured athletes, notes Shoulberg: If an athlete is having a sinus or ear infection, they can maintain training, get well sooner and not lose their level of fitness because of Vasa.
